Let's go Outback Queensland

We are heading off for two weeks to Outback Queensland, this trip going as far as Karumba and back again. We left from Tannum Sands late on a Friday afternoon and drove five hours to get to Emerald where we had booked a cabin as we were wanting a quick overnighter.

Day 1 - Left Emerald for a cruise up the Gregory Development Road towards Emerald. We are moving as fast as we can to get to Undara where the trip is officially 'started'. Along the way we went checked out Capella, Clermont and Belyango Crossing! As always we love the little towns and always try and have a stop to ensure we contributing in some way to the towns, particularly during this really hard time with the Covid restrictions. We set up the camper for an overnight at Charters Towers! We were here back in July so knew exactly how good the Darlrymple Caravan Park is and highly recommend it. We spent the night relaxing in their great Camper's kitchen. The weather is gorgeous and the sunsets amazing!!

Day 2 - Charters Towers to Undara! On the Gregory Development Road. Had some stops at Bluewater Springs Roadhouse. Then Greenvale, which was pretty interesting, worth a look. It has the Three Rivers Hotel, famous for the song that Slim Dusty made famous so there is lots of Slim Dusty references. Next stop Lynd Junction which has the smallest pub in Australia. Last stop Undara Volcanic National Park. This was our official starting place. Our first impressions of the camping grounds etc is A-Mazing! Looking forward to exploring around here for the next three days!!
