Bali 2017...we have arrived!

It's Bali time for us...having left last Saturday! It was a long day of travel from home to Bali [our choice] but we arrived on Saturday night. As soon as we got off the plane and met our driver, Mr Wayan, Bali was electric! Late Saturday night and there were people everywhere, enjoying life. The first few days we had planned to relax around Seminyak! I have been to Seminyak two years ago and it was very busy. This time it doesn't seem so bad. Maybe it is the threat of Mt Agung erupting that is keeping people away? I only see that to our advantage. There is no talk in Seminyak of the Volcano and it is about 70kms from Seminyak, so we are not really worried.

Our private Villa in Seminyak, Villa 888 Gr888 is fantastic! I shall give that some special mention later. To start the holiday well, it was off to The Shampoo Lounge for some hair therapy - 3 hours of attentive roots, style cut and blow dry for A$65.... half my normal price. The quality of the work was outstanding....for the whole two minutes before putting on my helmet to get on the scooter, it was fantastic! Anthony hit a barber for a cutthroat shave, head massage and trim and again raved about the experience. Then it was time for us to sit back and do some Seminyak people watching. SoHo 24/7 diner is the best place to do that. It is located in Eat Street, Jalan Laksmana. This diner has cheap Bintangs and good lunch food. Continuing the relaxing theme it was back to the Villa for afternoon swims and beverages.

For the evening it was down to Ku De Ta for sunset drinks, couple of jugs of Sangria. Ku De Ta is a very popular location to sit back and watch the sun go down. It is contemporary and this is a great place but the Sunset was hiding behind some clouds tonight. Hopefully we can catch it another time!! Lastly, it was off to La Sicilia for a Mai Tai and pizza for dinner. Pizza was great but the atmosphere was trying for traditional Italian mansion, it didn't quite hit it, more cave like - maybe the catacombs look?? So back to the Villa for bedtime!! A very relaxing day, a great way to start a holiday in Bali.
